DIRECTV Beats Cable TV

I’ve been itching to get rid of Comcast for quite a while. The issue is they give you a great combo with their packages that include telepone, high speed internet, and TV service. When customers try to remove one of these, you miss out on the savings of the package.

But the cable television setup just needs to go, as the channel selection and quality is well below par. With so much discussion today about HD, there isn’t much selection with Charter cable TV. So I started researching who else was available in my neck of the woods.

I happen to be one of the people who have been given a few choices. Unlike most folks who can only pick from just the cable company or Direct TV satellite TV, I have another choice in my area. The phone company in my neighborhood has been upgrading their network. So now I have an additional consideration with Verizon and their fiber optic service.

That doesn’t of course mean I won’t have similar issues. It could place me in the same situation as with the cable company, as the telephone company want me to bundle their TV setup with high speed and voice service. If the deal is good, I’ll be pleased. Then again if the service is poor you’re in the same circumstance that we all hate, being stuck with cable TV that isn’t all that great.  So I’m doing a side by side comparison, Direct TV vs cable so I make the right choice.

Most evaluations I found are pretty good on telecom television service. Of course it is brand new, there is sometimes a risk with a service like this, and some clients share their poor reviews. Some of those reviews are the funny, because people make the decision to write a bad review on their poor experience and post it on the world wide web. Unhappy customers rail on the company like it is some huge conspiracy to make the customer unhappy, as if the corporation doesn’t want our money!

Another option I am seriously considering is of course satellite television. Because we have four TV watchers in the home, we usually buy a premium TV bundle. The satellite TV choices are pretty even, as the Premier DirecTV package and the Dish Network Everything package are each about $115 a month. Yes that’s fairly high for cable television, but if you compare that to taking your family to supper and a movie, the entertainment value is comparable. Some of my family speak Spanish, so the DIRECTV Mas package looks like a winner. The good thing is that there are plenty of Direct TV opinions to help me decide which direction to take.
