Samsung ML 6060 - A Great Device
The Samsung ML 6060 Printer, used with ML 6060 Toner was designed for home use and is an excellent updated version of the ML 6050 printer. It offers some excellent quality while being affordable. Many times buyers have shied away from laser printers for home use because of the price but this model offers affordability and quality in one package. It is very fast and con produce up to 12 page sin a minute at its fastest.
The ML 6060N, the next model up is exactly the same except it comes with a 10/100 BaseTX Ethernet adapter. This can also be added to the ML 6060 for an additional cost. The print engine is powered using a 66MHz RISC processor, which is standard for most printers. The low memory, 4 MB of RAM, can make printing large graphics heavy documents a problem. It is possible to upgrade to 68 MB.
The printing resolution is 1200 and printing options can be adapted to produce exceptionally clear and crisp graphics and text files. The text printing is the fasting printing speed of all possible printouts. The machine also can function in a toner saving mode that results in 40% toner savings. This printer is a great option for personal printing.
Besides printing on plain paper it can also print on transparencies and envelopes. The maximum paper size it can handle is A4 or legal sized paper. The Samsung ML 6060 Printer will connect to your computer using a USB connection and you will need to have your own USB cable, as it does not come in the printer box. As long as your computer runs Windows 95 or later, Mac OS, Windows NT 4.0 or Microsoft DOS, you will not have a problem using the printer.
When testing the printer a few limitations were found though they are very minor indeed. The machine did not have a problem printing excel files that had black text on solid color blocks. Many times this can be an issue with other problems but the Samsung ML 6060 Printer did not have any problems. Any text that is smaller then 10 pts was a bit blurry and hard to read so just be aware and keep all font larger then 10 pts.
When printing a document that contains both text and graphics the printing speed does slow down considerably but if you add more memory the speed will return to its normal 12 pages per minute. The contrast between the text and graphics was excellent though if you want even better clarity you can fiddle with some of the printing options.
It was possible to print a 50-page text file in just over four minutes. This is very fast and the quality of the document was excellent. The scaling was not a problem and all text was clear and sharp. When comparing this printer to others in its class it is easily the best for speed and quality of printing.
The Samsung ML 6060 Printer is an excellent choice for personal or home printing. It is extremely affordable and with the Samsung ML 6060 Toner saving mode you will be saving money on Samsung ML 6060 Toner. It is possible to upgrade the connectivity and memory on this device though for printing text and graphic files this is not necessary. All in all an excellent printing choice.
